Project "Send 'em to School" is Smile Liberia's newest effort to ensure that every child in the West Point community obtains an education. During a recent visit to the West Point area, we discovered that there are more school-aged children out of school than those that are in school. This is due to abject poverty in the West Point community. 

In lieu of going to school, most school-aged children in the West Point area are found either begging in the streets, selling to help support their families, prostituting, or engaging in drug use.

Smile Liberia wants to ensure that all of these beautiful girls and boys get off the streets; into classrooms. Our goal is to put 100 children in school by the end of 2012. By the end of 2020, we want to impact at least 1,000 boys and girls in West Point and surrounding communities. For a detailed description of the program, click here.

How it works:

The goal of Project "Send 'em to School" is simple. Each year, we want to raise scholarship funds for as many boys and girls in the West Point community as we possibly can. There is no such thing as "free" education in Liberia, which is why many people living below poverty line cannot afford to send their children to school.

Every sponsor will have a personalized webpage on our website along with photos and stories of the child or children that they sponsor. On this page, we will have updates on the child or children's academic and social progress. This will provide a personal connection between the sponsors and the children that are being sponsored.

Here is how you can help:

$50/year can help a child with tuition and uniform for one semester

$100/year can help a child with tuition, uniform and books for half semester

$250/year can help a child with tuition, uniform, and books for a full year
