The School Adoption Project is Smile Liberia’s primary means of implementing its mission in Liberia. The project was launched in 2010 and is based on research conducted on the educational sector in Liberia and our own ongoing research into the needs of individual schools in meeting standard academic statuses. Funding in the amount of approximately $300,000.00 is needed for the total implementation of the project to cover staff and infrastructure development, direct student spending and basic community engagement.
Meet the students at Children Hope Community School, Smile Liberia's adopted school.
Project "Send 'em to School" is Smile Liberia's newest effort to ensure that every child in the West Point community obtains an
education. During a recent visit to the West Point area, we discovered that there were more school-aged children out of school than those that are in school. This is due to abject poverty in this community.
As part of Smile Liberia's commitment of working to improve the learning condition at Children Hope Community School through the School Adoption Project, the CEO of Smile Liberia, Mr. William Ward, recently paid a visit to the school. During his visit, Mr. Ward completed a massive renovation exercise at Children Hope. The renovation exercise included the replacement of the entire roofing of the school, replacement of the interior ceiling mats, painting of the interior and exterior of the school, and the replacement of old blackboards and arm chairs.
